Building Our House
					Our goal in building our house was to incorporate our design with long lasting green materials.  We designed the house on graph paper and had it professionally designed into blue prints.  We decided to be the general contractor on the project, so Mike took some time away from his work and spent nearly everyday at the jobsite.  We did research on materials as well as craftsman in the building process.  The house includes: Geothermal HVAC                      Hardwood floors from sustainable forests Real lineoleum                           Cement board siding Low flow toilets                           Pex plumbing system Marvin windows                          High efficiency water heater 40 year roof shingles                 Steel beams for support Oak and Hickory Cabinets        Energy Star appliances Cellulose and foam insulation It took six months from ground breaking to the time we moved in.  We ar still working on finishing up some of the details as well as the basement .  Over all we could not be happier with our new house.
